Yesterday the kids finished their solar system mobiles! The kids had to paint their papier mache suns and start attaching the planets to the mobiles.

This project had its own list of issues and difficulties. The helpers had not planned on HOW to attach the planets to the mobile pieces so I had to come up with some solutions for that. We ended up tying large knots onto the end of the support strings and gluing the knots into holes we made in the planets (with weaving needles).

The dean reinforced the glue and string with metal brads. After the mobiles were complete the kids had time to paint and decorate their yo-yos.

Here are some pictures of the finished mobiles. They turned out really cool, I think! And then, of course, I had to move them to make room for the elementary kids.
