Junior High Camp: Thursday

Hey all! I am a day late on these blog posts but uhh... I got it all figured out!
Thursday was CRAZY hectic.
YAY Star Wars origami! best dayyyy

Option 1: Faith bracelets
These were not the MOST popular thing until later today during rec hour when they all wanted to make one. They're super simple and the kids caught on right away. They made lots of different variations of macrame bracelet designs, too :)

Option 2: Papermaking
I had asked the kids Wednesday what they wanted to work on and suggested making paper as an activity. I didn't have a lot of response right away, but when they walked in Thursday morning it was a huge hit! Some of the campers made more than one paper project and most of them returned to make more at rec hour. They soon learned how to mix the colors they wanted and about the importance of consistency in their pulp mixtures. It was fun watching them figure out the little hiccups that come with the papermaking process. AND they were super excited that they would be able to plant the paper (because it had wildflower seeds in it) and remember the Craft lady forEVER. Their words, not mine.

Option 3: Continue to work on projects from yesterday/ draw
A lot of the campers were working on their weaving projects and gimping and such. The kids were able to teach each other the different crafts (which is always encouraging and indicative of my teaching prowess ;)). Most of the kids in each group were working on banquet decorations and props for their skits, which were going to be after dinner. They did a super good job with those! We all laughed a lot and it was a good time :)

The plan for Friday is to do BEAD ANIMALS. What a flashback that will be. I haven't made bead animals since I was a camper!
