Junior High Camp..laast day.

Last day of Junior High Camp.. how bittersweet! :(

Note: This is what I am looking at right now haha!!

My plan for today was to have the kids make bead animals and let them kind of chill out and do their own thing. They worked on lots of different bead critters and worked to finish their weavings (speaking of which I don't know if I am going to get those needles back!). Lots of campers finished their projects today and some of them started bracelets and the like. We had pretty impressive amounts of work to take home from these campers! Almost all the cubbies were full at the end of the day.

Eric held a snake for the first time today!

And I think he liked it...

Working hard! And look at those cubbies!
hardly working?
friendship bracelets and thatFACE

bead seahorse!
I gave the campers their choice of the animals they wanted to make and then they were responsible for counting the beads, the colors, and planning the project. I had to provide very little help after they got started and they came up with some really cool designs! I will try and take some pictures of them tomorrow before send-off..
Before dinner this evening I requested that the campers help clean up Rockland before they left tomorrow so they could pick up their work (and their messes). I didn't want anyone to leave without their projects that they worked on ALL WEEK. Not only did the dean agree to that, but they thanked my coworkers for the delicious banquet dinner and then the whole group of campers and counselors thanked me personally for being a great craft lady this week! It warmed my heart before I went into hardcore pot washing mode :)

As promised: below is the feedback I received from the campers :)! I put my computer on the desk for the kids to use and I've been getting responses since Wednesday afternoon.. I'm gonna miss this kids!

Write about your experience with Breanne the Craft lady in Rockland!

Breanne is seriously the best CRAZY craft lady
Breanne has the best craft ideas and her Rockland cabin is the best. Her snake is also the coooooolest thing I have EVER petted.
-James (PEACHSSS)- (he asked me if he could be my craft assistant next summer!)

Being in the craft cabin is quite fun, so far I made two sun reflectors, and a sign for the dance, and I made a bracelet.

The craft lady is very nice and funny.  I’m working on a faith bracelet. The craft lady is so nice that she helped me start it. This craft lady is so awesome.

I think the craft lady is so pretty and nice looking. (haha ahhhh)

Belle
I love crafts and the craft cabin is one of my favorite places to be I like to paint and she always has a new activity every day and there all fun  she has a snake non- poisin (poisonous) and we love to see him in the craft cabin (Belle wants to be a veterinarian, so she held Cézanne as much as she could)

Sam P
I love the craft cabin! I love arts and crafts and she always has great ideas and endless amounts of supplies. I love to watch the campers be creative and it’s a great way for everyone to learn how to share and be proud of something they made. Ms. K does a great job with all the campers and they love her and her snake! ( Sam was very patient with me while I worked with other campers - there's only one craft lady! She accomplished a lot of projects. )

Marion F.
Craft Lady is so much fun! She always has something fun to do for us. Maybe she will teach us how to make bead animals. She is so creative! (We learned today!)

Devin
I think that the craft cabin is my favorite place in the camp.  The craft lady is nice and lets us paint on the benches and tables.  Plus, she has a lot of options for crafts.  If you don’t like the crafts you can just free-draw!  I also like the snake.

Keyrha
I had a fun time learning new crafts I have not heard of before and I got to hold her pet snake which is awesome he would wrap his body around your arm. I like spending time in crafts because Breanne is awesome and lets us do almost every thing. So join her in awesome adventures. (She was really patient with me when I was working with other campers)

Alicia
I have had such a fun time here in crafts she is so funny, and helpful. Everyone calls her craft lady, I think it’s funny. I love her pet snake he feels slimy but he’s not come to Rockland its AWESOME!!!! (he feels slimy but he's not HAHA)

Craft lady  is very brdve (brave) and a falloer (follower) of god and should come back next year -Claire

I will really miss this group of scampers... I think they're my favorite so far. I have learned a lot from working with them and have generally had a really good time. They definitely were engaged in the activities (mostly) and REALLY enjoyed learning about Cézanne and his many mannerisms.
I am fighting a cold that cropped up in the past few days.. I need all the sleep I can get!

Tomorrow is send-off and I have to say goodbye to the Junior High campers... it's gonna be kind of sad, but I'm glad I get to see them off before epic cleaning time starts for staff - and some of them are coming back next year!

I think this crazy craft lady will be returning, too. :)

Warm and fuzzy, but not glittery,
Craft Lady/Art Lady/B-Dawg. (Yes, that happened).

Ms. K
